At first glance, one wouldn't think that automobiles were the "greenest" form of transportation. And, while taking public transportation or riding your bike to work are still some of the most environmentally-friendly ways to travel, one must also admit that automakers are getting a lot more efficient and providing us with greener technologies and vehicles with each passing year. Some automakers are especially committed to decreasing consumers' environmental footprints. Take Kia, for example, which recently tied for first place with Hyundai as the world's most efficient and environmentally-friendly automaker according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Kia was pinpointed in the EPA's annual "Light-Duty Automotive Technology, Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Fuel Economy Trends" report, for achieving over 27 mpg overall average for all of its vehicles, which is an important step on the way to future fuel economy regulations by the U.S. government. As The China Post explains, "The U.S. government announced plans to require automakers to achieve an average fuel economy of 34.1 mpg and reach 250 grams per mile in CO2 emissions by model-year 2016."1

Because Kia has invested so much money in researching and developing new technologies and lightweight cars and materials (like high-tensile steel), we here at Pence Kia, located at 11901 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian, VA have no doubt that the automaker will easily step to the plate. In fact, we can already see the results of some of its hard work with new Kia models like the 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid. Stop by and see all of the "green" vehicles we have in stock today!
