South Korean automaker, Kia announced the starting cost of its refreshed 2012 Kia Rio5, last week. For those of you not familiar with the Kia Rio5, it's essentially a five-door hatch version of the Kia Rio four-door sedan available in one less trim level. The new cost, we're happy to report, is significantly less expensive than the 2011 model. And, while the starting price is dropping, the aesthetics and technology of the vehicle is rising.

Let's start with the body, shall we?  When you see the Kia Rio5 driving around the Midlothian area, you'll immediately notice that it has a slightly more commanding presence thanks to a slightly wider powertrain.

Another change Pence Kia is fond of, is one you won't be able to outwardly see. Specifically, we're referring to its composition. For 2012, the Kia Rio is built using a significantly higher-strength steel, which according to Kia, improves torsional rigidity by over 30 percent.

To satisfy music enthusiasts, Kia has also made USB and auxiliary ports standard fare across the model range. And for true techies, they've even gone so far as to amplify the SX and EX trims with Kia UVO hands-free audio with a rear-view camera. While it's only available as an option on the Kia Rio EX, it is standard on the SX. The 2012 Kia Rio SX also gains an optional seven-inch navigation screen.
