At the end of July, Kia posted a consolidated net profit of 1.1-trillion Korean won (approximately $1-billion), for Q2 2011, exceeding forecasts by 187-billion Korean won (about $178-million). Talk about impressive! Achieving even 913-billion Korean won would have been noteworthy. And, to top it all off, in the U.S. alone, Kia succeeded in gaining nearly one full percent of market share in Q2.

Taking a localized view of Kia's outstanding performance here in the U.S., we can see the automaker's market share grew from 3.4 percent in Q1 2011to 4.3 percent in Q2 2011. Much of this growth is fueled by robust interest the Kia Optima and Kia Sportage SUV.

Seeing, consumers gravitate toward and stay with the Kia, the South Korean automaker actually raised their U.S. sales goal for 2011, in the U.S. In addition, the company has also revealed plans to start manufacturing the Kia Optima in the U.S. rather than import it from overseas.
