Kia Motors reached new historic heights when J.D. Power recognized its brand as the highest scoring nameplate out of 33 makes in the United States in its 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS). For the first time in 27 years, a non-premium brand has topped the ranks. Kia Motors rise to the top was driven by its leading performers; the Kia Soul and Sportage, while the Kia Sorento came in second and Rio third (in their respective categories). Michael Sprague, COO and EVP of Kia Motors America note “As the highest ranked brand in the industry, there is no doubt Kia is the first-class automaker.”

According to the reports:

Kia owners in the United States have reported fewer problems with their vehicles within the first 90-days of their ownership than any other car or truck brand.
Kia Sportage (Small SUV) and Kia Soul (Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle) were both recognized as highest in their segment, while three additional models were ranked among the top three in their corresponding categories.
